"I wish I had discovered Shelby DeVore when I started gardening and farming last year. The summits and events that she hosts are both informative and inspiring! In her classes, she does a great job of giving you the nuts and bolts for the basics and explains complex topics simply and clearly. I was armed with much better information to get started this year and I can finally stop Googling the things that are not going quite right."

Starting your own homestead is an incredibly rewarding experience, but it’s not always easy, especially if you're new to gardening, raising livestock, or traditional skills.

Creating a healthier, more intentional lifestyle can feel overwhelming—especially when you’re already stretched thin and not sure what to do first. But deep down, you know there has to be a better way to feed your family and care for the people you love.

Ever taken a bite of a store-bought tomato that tasted like... nothing? That bland, watery texture? That’s because it was picked months ago, shipped across the country, and lost nearly everything good about it on the way.

And it’s not just tomatoes. Most of what’s in the grocery store today is overprocessed, undernourishing, and overpriced.

But what if you could take back control—without turning your life upside down?

Imagine this...

  • Serving fresh, flavorful vegetables and real pasture-raised meat, eggs, and dairy—grown and raised by you... so that you’re no longer stuck with bland, overpriced “organic” food from the store that’s traveled farther than most vacations.
  • Caring for chickens, bees, or other animals in a way that feels doable—even with a busy schedule... so that you can enjoy fresh eggs, raw honey, and the joy of self-sufficiency without turning your life upside down.
  • Knowing exactly what’s in your meals because you made them with ingredients from your backyard... so that you can stop second-guessing food labels or Googling ingredients you can’t pronounce.
  • Learning old-fashioned skills like herbal remedies, sourdough baking, and traditional cooking... so that your family isn’t relying on boxed meals, over-the-counter meds, or fast food as a fallback.
  • Turning everyday routines into something meaningful—and maybe even fun... so that life doesn’t just feel like one long to-do list, but something you actually enjoy again.

This isn’t about doing it all at once. It’s about learning one doable skill at a time—so that your life becomes more grounded, more nourishing, and more yours.

And that’s exactly what the Homegrown Living Summit is here to help you do.

You don’t need a huge farm, a ton of free time or even experience to live a homegrown life.

At the Homegrown Living Summit, you’ll learn how to grow your own food, care for animals, and bring back traditional skills that support your family’s health and happiness—even if you’re starting from scratch.

"I’m a seasoned homesteader with 40+ years of experience. I was interested in the summit to find ideas for choosing better what I really need to be doing for my husband and I on the farm. I was able to get some really good information from the summit and walked away with a much better plan for my next steps. Thank you for offering this summit. It was very enjoyable and informative. I would have loved to have this when I started my homestead decades ago."

20+ expert sessions. 3 days. A thousand lightbulb moments.

If you’ve been craving a simpler, healthier, more hands-on way of living—but didn’t know where to start—this summit is for you.

Whether you’re...

  • Frustrated by the added hormones, preservatives, and chemicals in store-bought food and finally ready to grow your own produce and raise animals you can trust...
  • Longing to make the most of what you grow— from harvesting and preserving to homemade cheese and natural remedies...
  • Tired of trying (and failing) to grow a garden or raise chickens and just want a simpler, step-by-step approach that actually fits your life...
  • Curious about adding bees, herbs, or traditional skills to your backyard setup, but not sure how to begin without getting overwhelmed...
  • Craving a slower pace that lets you reconnect with nature, your family, and your food, while learning practical skills like sourdough baking, herbal medicine, and more...

You’re not alone—and you don’t have to figure it all out by yourself.

Whatever your reason, it’s time to come back to the way things were always meant to be—
growing and raising your own food, learning traditional skills, and creating a home that nourishes everyone around your table.

Hey, I'm Shelby DeVore!

I’m Shelby—a wife, busy mom of four, and lifelong farm girl who believes the best things in life come from the garden, the kitchen, and the barn.

I’ve spent the last 20+ years growing vegetables, raising animals, and teaching others how to do the same—first as a high school and college agriculture teacher, and now through my online programs where I’ve helped thousands of women get back to the basics.

What makes my approach different? Most educators either have book knowledge or personal experience. I bring both. I’ve taught animal science and crop production in the classroom… but I’ve also raised baby chicks in the laundry room and pulled weeds in the dark with a baby monitor clipped to my overalls.

But it wasn’t until 2021 that I truly understood the power of this way of life. That year, at just 30 years old, I had a rare heart attack and a stroke—with three little kids at home. Doctors told me I was likely to have more. That moment changed everything.

Since then, I’ve worked closely with my medical team and leaned hard into intentional living—growing our own food, avoiding processed ingredients, and bringing back the simple practices that supported our grandparents’ health.

The results? Nothing short of life-changing. And I want the same for you. That’s why I created the Homegrown Living Summit—to help you learn the skills that will nourish your body, simplify your days, and bring more joy into your home.

Whether you’re starting from scratch or picking up where you left off, you’re in the right place. Let’s do this together.

Discover how to cultivate a thriving homestead right from your own home.

We’re not here to overwhelm you—we’re here to walk with you.

There are countless events, workshops, and summits on gardening and self-sufficiency—but what sets the Homegrown Living Summit apart is who it’s for. This summit was created specifically for women who want to grow their own food, raise animals, and bring back the old-fashioned skills that nourish their families from the inside out. Every presentation is intentionally crafted to help you take confident steps toward a more grounded, hands-on life—no fluff, no pressure, and no need to “do it all.”

You won’t find mile-long to-do lists or complicated strategies here. Instead, we’ll help you uncover your natural green thumb, learn life-giving skills, and simplify the process—so you can stop feeling behind and start feeling capable.

Whether you’re dreaming of a garden full of fresh veggies, gathering eggs from your backyard, or learning how to bake sourdough bread and brew herbal remedies, this summit will show you how to get started in a way that feels doable and deeply rewarding.

Because this isn’t just about food. It’s about building a life that actually feels good.

Here's what attendees from past events have to say...

"Each of the presenters is an expert, but also a human with finite energy, time, and finances. I know that "I Can Do It!" after watching them and hearing their tips & stories."
-Melissa Mattern

"All speakers had great info! Love that you brought them together so we can hear each one's experience and knowledge!!" -Tara Shaver

"I attended last year's summit you hosted and it was so good. I LOVED it so I had to attend this one!"
-Carole Lynette

Would you believe the “fresh” vegetables at the store could be months—or even a year—old?

Real talk: I have a Master’s degree in Agriculture, and I spent nearly seven years teaching high school and college ag. classes. I’ve managed commercial greenhouses and worked closely with the systems that produce the food most people buy without thinking twice.

And I’ll be the first to tell you—if you want the highest-quality food for your family, you need to grow it yourself.

You might think buying organic, non-GMO, or “fresh” from the grocery store means you’re getting better food.
But here’s the truth most people don’t know: Many vegetables are already weeks—sometimes months—old when they hit store shelves. In some cases, they’re over a year old… even if the label says “fresh.”

And every hour that passes after harvest? Nutrients begin to break down. By the time that produce lands on your plate, you could be missing up to 80% of the original nutrition.

But it’s not just the veggies. Our meat, eggs, dairy—and even so-called “natural” products—are often loaded with fillers, additives, and ultra-processed ingredients that do more harm than good.

No wonder we’re seeing skyrocketing rates of illness, burnout, and food sensitivities.

It’s time to take back control.

If you want to eat healthy, you need access to real, fresh, nutrient-rich food—and the best way to get that is by growing and producing it yourself.

During the Homegrown Living Summit, I’ll show you how to:

👉 Plan and plant your first garden (even if you’ve killed every houseplant you’ve ever owned)

👉 Raise chickens and other animals with confidence—even on a small property

👉 Master traditional kitchen skills like sourdough baking, making meals from scratch, and crafting nourishing remedies

👉 Simplify your everyday life and finally feel like you’re moving toward something that matters

Even if you have no idea where to start… even if time and space feel limited… this is for you.

Because your family deserves better.

And so do you.
